Monochrome Party Update

This is a follow-up post on my monochrome-themed birthday party in November, where I asked attendees to donate money instead of buying me presents. I know the follow-up is a bit late, but whatever.

All in all, over RM800 was collected [applause], with RM600 going to World Vision for the sponsorship of a child for a year.

So I got the letter from the child a few weeks ago. Her name is Fatima (like my grandmother. This bodes well) and she's from Lebanon. Sponsors are discouraged from sending gifts to Lebanon, because they have to pay a certain amount to collect them.

The remaining amount, which I haven't gotten around to doing anything with yet, will be donated to Peace Malaysia. Or Force of Nature Aid Foundation. I haven't decided yet, but will decide by the end of February.

Debriefing: Monochrome Party

Even though about 20 people didn't show up like they were supposed to and there were bottles and bottles of drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) leftover, I think the party was quite a success. Well, I had fun anyway.

I got drunk, somehow ended up in the pool (I don't know it was all a blur), got my cake (much love, kuntum and whoren), collected over RM800 and SGD8 in total (yay), found three lighters after people left, had fun. My badges were a hit, people loved the food, and that's all I need.

FYI, I was still drunk when I woke up at 6.30am the next day. But that's another story for a different day.

Thanks, guys, for another memorable birthday and some me-style fun.

EDIT: Sorry, I also forgot to mention how loved I felt the whole weekend because I was getting SMSes and calls from all over the world. Okay, I lie. Just from the British empire. But I love it anyway. Love, love.

So didi just found me this awesome cake maker lady who calls herself ladygloom. Once I had a look at the photos of her cakes, I knew I had to have her make mine for my BLACK AND WHITE party. I think the conversation with didi went something like this:

Sneak Preview: Cake

Okay, posting through my email just seems to make more sense now. At least it won't be so obvious to my colleagues that I'm blogging.
