The world's knowledge (and porn collection but that's irrelevant for this blog entry) is at your fingertips. Educate yourself. http://www.GapMinder.org is a website that provides in-depth information and statistics on the social, economic and environmental development of the world.

And when I say the world, it doesn't mean that most of the info is centred around the U.S., Europe or Great Britain. It actually means the world.

The website is chock-full of awesome and visually-orgasmic stuff. You have to check out the Human Development Trends 2005. It's just an incredible itneractive presentation. You'll find out so much more about the world than you thought you knew.

For example, did you know that

• the child survival rate of Singapore is higher than that of the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (i.e. the big boys)?
• the development of Asia as a whole is contributing to reducing world poverty and is bringing the world on track to meet the Millennium Development Goals poverty rate?

Interesting fact about GapMinder is that it is a part of Google (but looks totally unrelated). It's so gratifying to have such a powerful tool online.
